Hi, I’m Michael O’Donnell. I founded Modern Consultancy to help entrepreneurs in the Northwest of Ireland navigate the challenges of starting and growing a business.
With over 15 years of experience in food production and local enterprise development, I’ve worked side by side with business owners to solve real problems – from getting products onto retail shelves to streamlining operations on a shoestring budget.
My mission is to empower local businesses to innovate and grow sustainably, turning strategy into real impact in our community.
My Approach

My approach is friendly and down-to-earth. I’m not the consultant who swoops in with jargon or a 100-page report and then disappears. Instead, I roll up my sleeves alongside you.
I’ll ask the tough questions (“Is this product really what your customer needs?”), I’ll challenge assumptions (“Let’s test if that price point makes sense”), and I’ll cheer your every win.
I consider it my job to make sure your passion and effort translate into commercial success, as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Why It Matters
At the end of the day, I measure my success by your success. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a client’s product on a store shelf for the first time, or hearing that they had to buy a bigger mixer or
hire extra hands because demand is growing.
I firmly believe that with the right support, small Irish food businesses can achieve big things – all while staying true to their roots.
